Piece Of Cipher+ is a 2013 remaster of the album 'Piece of Cipher' created by the group ELECTROCUTICA in 2009. It's an IDM vocaloid album with a wide variety of sounds, and possibly the most exciting addition to my collection yet, and maybe ever. Piece of Cipher+ is my favourite vocaloid album of all time, so having it in my hands physically is really really amazing. I'm quite lucky that it's available on streaming services, but I knew that someday I would just have to have it in my hands... When I saw it pop up on Rakuten second-hand and had the funds to do so, I barely even hesitated LOL...
The first song I discovered from this album was Ame Furu Hakoniwa, via a chorus battle I was following in 2018? It was the cover done by Eclair Deluxe. I was so amazed by how gorgeous of a song it was, but didn't really bother to look into the origins at the time. I forgot about it for quite a few years after that, before I finally started playing Project Diva X in 2021-ish. It was around this time that I was getting back into vocaloid as a whole, other than playing project diva games on the odd occasion and listening to what was already on my playlst. I binged the game, and upon listening to the elegant medley for the first time i was reminded of this song that I loved a few years prior and ran to go figure out what it was again. When I found it, I was kind of surprised that the elegant medley featured two songs from the same album and kind of became obsessed with it.
Since then, I've spend a lot more time listening to it, reading the lyrics of each piece and enjoying the songs to their fullest. I really, really love this album. It's packed to the brim with gorgeous melodies, and Treow is the king of rhythm as always. I love how he uses samples and his compositions always appeal to me. Ame Furu Hakoniwa is still my favourite from this album, and now my favourite vocaloid song of all time. It's just the perfect song for my tastes in particular. I don't know how else to describe it LOL. Without being dramatic, it is genuinely a perfect song to me. One day, I'd really like to hunt down the original album too...
On a different note, I think the album art is just beautiful. I highly recommend opening the picture in a new tab and full quality and just takinhg in all the little details... It's so pretty. I love it so, so much. I may be biased, but I do think the art fits the story of Ame Furu Hakoniwa. I like to think of it as the illustration for it...
